Ala Lani UMC will be the host church for a new hula ministry starting January 2010.  Classes will be taught by Kumu Uilani Purdy, who is the Maui coordinator for the upcoming PIWAI HOIKE in April 2010.  She is associated with the Pacific Arise Ministries/Institute for Indigenous Studies (William Cary International University). 

Classes will be open to anyone wanting to participate, young and old, men and women, girls and boys.  There is no cost for those who want to participate and learn Gospel hula.  Women/girls will need to have their own pa’u skirt.  Men/boys will need to practice in short pants.
