Fundraising for Camp Mekokiko
Our church still has a $40,000 apportionment for Camp Mekokiko
payable in five years. BIG MONEY? Yes, indeed!
But if we, 160 members, can save one dollar a day for a year
religiously, then we can come up with $58,000. This is
more than enough to share, right? So, the Fundraising Committee
will be distributing small boxes for you to save. These
boxes will be collected at the end of 2008. We are looking
forward for your greatest commitment.

Na Hoaloha -
MIVC
There is a
"Faith in Action" community volunteer agency that provides services to
the frail and elderly of Maui. There are many opportunities to
serve as a volunteer ranging from friendly telephone calls to occasional
shopping with or for the person. Volunteer registration forms are
available in the narthex. Should there be a need for services,
please refer to Joyce Afalla and she will assist with the referral.
She is volunteering there this summer on Fridays as part of her
Community Health Case Worker course at MCC. Services range from
transporation to respite to telephone reassurance to friendly visits.
A good example within our church is that Joyce Afalla volunteers to
provide Sunday transportation for Joan Deeks. Joan Deeks
volunteers with daily telephone reassurance calls for several different
people.
Will you support Na Hoaloha with your prayers, time and money? All
monetory donations may be made through Ala Lani UMC. Just designate on
the check that it is for Na Hoaloha/MIVC.
Currently, two people from Ala Lani UMC serve on the board of Na Hoaloha/MIVS,
Lynn Bowersox and Joyce Afalla. The volunteer coordinator is Mrs.
Carol Heib (Szackacs). Offices are at the Good Shepherd Episcopal
Church in Wailuku. The phone number there is (808) 249-2545.
A
new fundraiser for Na Hoaloha/MIVC is using a community search engine where
a percentage of the funds are donated to Na Hoaloha/MIVC. It is
similar to Google. Just type in
www.goodsearch.com to initiate the search. Then, type in
organization "Na Hoaloha". Each time you do this, a few pennies are
put into the Na Hoaloha account. A free and painless way to support
this organization. Try it!!
